How I Wash My Makeup Brushes

Cleaning Pad, Brush Shampoo

How many of you wash your makeup brushes weekly as you should? I’m gonna guess not a lot of you do, kinda like me. There’s something about cleaning that just turns me off. However, I really love seeing dirtiness go away! I’ve recently gotten into the habit of washing my makeup brushes once a week after reading this article and going on a search to find a brush cleaner, which is how I found this silicone dish scrubber and loved it because I knew the small bristles in the sponge would be perfect for cleaning my brushes. Similar to the Sigma brush cleaning matthis one helps reach every little nook in the brushes to give them a deep clean. This 5 pack of sponges is only $9 making each one just $1.80 each!!! With these you can use some for the dishes and the others for cleaning your makeup brushes.

Here’s how I clean my brushes…

First, I start off with lukewarm water, not hot water because the heat can make the glue go away and you’ll end up with the brush falling apart. I then take a small amount of this brush shampoo cleanser  on the silicone pad and I began rubbing in my brush in circular motions. Immediately you will begin to see the makeup coming off and washing away under the sink. When you’re cleaning them you will realize just how much product gets left behind on your brushes and so much bacteria begins to produce 24/7. This is why it’s extremely important to clean your brushes on a weekly basis, even the ones you rarely use! After washing each brush, I lay them flat on a clean towel to dry overnight. In the morning I wake up and swirl them into the towel just to get out any dampness left behind and voila thats it

I hope you all found this post helpful and serves as a reminder to always clean your brushes!

Do y’all have any plans for the weekend? It looks like we’ll be getting rain this weekend so I might have to rethink any plans I may have made. But all is well because I have lots of homework and studying to do 🙂

xoxo, Liz
