My Everyday Makeup Routine

We live an era where contour and highlight have become the center of the makeup industry. For me personally I’ve always gone for a light glam look. I’m not one to contour because I’ve always found it to be a bit intimidating. I’ve dabbled into bronzing my face but I never was super satisfied with the look. After wearing makeup for several years now and through lots of trial and error, I’ve finally found the best makeup routine for myself.

Before applying my makeup I began by moisturizing my face with the Ole Henriksen Oil Control Hydrator. I have really oily skin and this line has helped minimize my oil levels so much. Next, I prime my skin with the Nivea Post Shave Balm. I discovered this product after NikkieTutorials shared it on her youtube channel years ago. This has been the best primer for me in making my makeup last all day. I use a foundation brush to apply the primer & my hands to apply moisturizer.

Immediately after applying primer I apply my foundation all over my face & neck with a beauty sponge, I love the Maybelline Matte + Poreless foundation. Next, I use the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose and I conceal any dark spots or blemishes. To set my face where I used the concealer, I use a powder brush to apply the Neutrogena SkinClearing Powder. After I’ve done this, I use a fan brush to apply the Wet N Wild Megaglo Highlight on the top of my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose.

After I’ve finished my face makeup I begin on my eyes. I love to use three different palettes to achieve my eye look. I got the Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette for Christmas two years ago and it’s definitely my most used as I’ve hit pan on several shades. I recently got a new ABH Modern Renaissance Palette to replace the one I had gotten 3 years ago. I added the ColourPop Princess Collection Palette to my collection last year and wrote a review here.

For my lashes I use the L’oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. I began using this mascara after hearing amazing reviews for so long and you guys… It’s the best!!

I hope you all enjoyed a peek into my makeup routine and even find it useful if you’re like me and love simple makeup looks.

How was your guys’ weekend? If you follow me on Instagram you may know that on Wednesday last week I sprained my ankle at the gym and then to top it off I woke up with a bad ear infection the next day. So I was at home resting and getting better but now I’m back to work today and school tomorrow. I hope you all have a wonderful week 🙂

How I Care For My Hair + How I Style It

When it comes to hair I’m definitely no expert but I do have some things that work well for my hair and may even help you

So first off, I have virgin hair (meaning I have never dyed it) plus I don’t use much heat on it unless I need to. I have really thick hair which can be such a hassle to deal with and often times irritates me especially in the summer! Ever since middle school, each summer I cut my hair to shoulder length to avoid the constant headaches and “rats nests” from forming at the back of my head. Since I only cut my hair about once a year it grows out a lot. This post by Allure is great for figuring out when a haircut might be best for you.

I have naturally straight hair so there is so many ways I can style it and for that I’m so blessed (thanks mom & dad!). My favorite things to do to style it up, is to braid it every night and wake up with beachy waves, curl it, and straighten it out to get rid of any creases from a ponytail. I’ve used almost every hot tool out there to get curls and my favorite is with my straightener! I know its bad to apply so much heat on both sides with this tool but the curls I get are my absolute favorite. They can either come out tight or loose and last for 2-3 days, which is great cause I dread having to wash my hair.

When I don’t style up my hair with heat I love to find cute ways to wear it with either a braid or cute hair accessories like the bow shown in the picture above. I also love these headbands here & here

When it comes to washing my hair I love drugstore brands and some high end salon ones as well. However, I stick more to the drugstore ones since it’s more convenient to just pick them up on a quick Target or Walmart run. Recently I fell in love with the OGX brand of shampoos and conditioners. I picked up the Mistletoe Kisses Shampoo for the scent but stuck with the Bonding Plex Conditioner to help repair my hair. I’ve noticed a change in my hair over the last few weeks and a huge difference is that my hair is no longer getting oily after just one day. I’m now able to wash my hair three times a week with a few sprays of this dry shampoo here & there when needed.

I believe that great hair will take you far in life and in order to have great hair, you have to maintain it in a healthy way that will look great when you’re 85 and not just when you’re in your 20s 🙂 I hope this post helps you out and maybe inspires you to take better care of your hair

My Three Holy Grail Winter Beauty Must Haves

Happy Friday Beauty Babes! The cold front is now upon us Southern California peeps lol. We got so much rain yesterday and are expecting some more today. It kinda through me off track with my week because it made me so lazy and the weather definitely didn’t help. My skin suffers so much in the winter so I’m always on the hunt for new products that will help me 🙂 I found these products awhile ago and they are truly life changers. I stopped by Sephora and Ulta on Black Friday and picked these up for such great deals.

1) First Aid Beauty: Ultra Repair Cream

This cream has seriously changed my skin so much!! I get really dry hands in the winter and they even bleed because I’m constantly dipping my hands in bleach water at work 😦 Last winter it was so bad and I would cry every night because it became painful. I began using aquaphor but I didn’t like it because it would leave my hands so oily and slippery. What I like about this cream is that you only need the smallest amount and instantly my hands are hydrated again and there’s no slippery residue left.

2) Clinique: Clarifying Lotion

This exfoliator is actually a liquid so not a lotion lol but its my favorite. I use it twice a day; after washing my face in the morning & night. It has a strong scent but it works so good at helping take away any oils or leftover makeup that my makeup wipe and face wash didn’t take away. The pump it came with was so tricky to work when I got it but now I love it! I use small cotton pads and push down on it and it squirts the lotion onto the pad, I love that I’m able to pump just enough that I need so I’m not wasting product.

3) Not Your Mothers: Dry Shampoo

This dry shampoo is my all time favorite! I recently ran out of my big bottle so while shopping at Ulta I found this mini pack (which makes a great stocking stuffer!) and loved that I can have these minis with me at all times so I can touch up my hair whenever it gets too oily. I dread showers in the winter and washing my hair becomes such a tedious task so I go through bottles and bottles of this stuff.

Disney X ColourPop Review

Happy Wednesday Lovelies! Today I’m so excited to be sharing what I got from the Disney Designer Collection with Colourpop 🙂 I had my eyes on this collab since the day sneak peeks were being dropped all over Instagram, if you know me then you know I love all things Disney so I was extra excited for this because it combines two of my favorites; makeup and Disney!

I bought the “It’s A Princess Thing” pressed powder eyeshadow palette which was $20 and is such a steal for 15 amazing shades that have such great pigment and they blend out so well. I also got the lipstick in the shade Ariel, this color is like a deep pink nude shade and I’m obsessed with it! Sadly all the lipstick shades sold out however two lip glosses are still available along with the palette and a few super shock shadows.

Check out ColourPop and pick up some pieces from the collab before its gone 🙂
